Deslave is an artist-run space, curatorial team and semi-professional cult for the discussion, exhibition and production of contemporary art. Based in Tijuana, it opened its doors in the spring of 2017, hosting numerous shows, talks, workshops, study meetings, performances and video programs. It has curated projects for Human Resources, Los Angeles; Material Art Fair, Mexico City; and the San Diego Art Institute, San Diego. It is run by Mauricio Muñoz and Andrew Roberts, and supported co-independently, including, of course, beloved friends and family.

As a not-for-profit artist-run initiative, Deslave gratefully welcomes donations of any size in order to keep the engine running. All economic resources received from public and private foundations, as well as personal contributions and occasional sales, goes directly to the funding of our activities, the emerging artists that comprise them and the gallery space making our program possible.

We are always interested in hearing new projects and working with a broad scope of people from all kind of backgrounds and art practices, from curators, writers, educators, artists and other artist-run initiatives. We seek, and encourage, bold and experimental ideas outside disciplinary structures as a way to diversify the conversation and nourish affective connections. If you are interested in collaborating with us please don’t doubt to send us a proposal.

Our current 2018-2019 monthly exhibition program is made possible thanks to the support of the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo
